How Male ED Meds Help Women

The common male problem with erectile dysfunction (ED) tends to grab all the headlines when it comes to human sexual impediments. However, there is an even more common problem that we have known about for centuries. People have talked and joked about it in TV, movies, Jane Austen novels, and elsewhere. It’s a women thing. Did you guess it yet? It’s the female orgasm! It has been said, sometimes seriously, that it is a mythical creature. Men have been called lazy because they could not reward their women so. However, it is indeed very real and very achievable. It just happens that a great deal of women have a hard time achieving orgasm. While there is no doubt that improved communication, excitement, and prowess in regards to the partner will benefit female sexual pleasure, for some women there is only so much you and your partner can do before seeking out external help. It is well known that drugs are out there to help the men, which in turn helps some women, but isn’t there anything out there for women?

Actually, yes! Some will say that you can use the same drugs that the men use. This was rumored true for a while, but there were no real facts on the matter. Until just recently, it was all anecdotes and hearsay. Well, recent testing has suggested that Viagra for one can be partly effective at making it easier for women to find that elusive ultimate sexual gratification. So how does it work? ED drugs tend to work for men by increasing blood flow to the penis to promote and sustain erection. Though women do not get erections, it is possible that ED drugs can increase the flow of blood to the female sexual organs as well, which would heighten the nerve reaction to vaginal stimulation and bring about orgasm more easily. Sexual arousal is far more complicated for women than men. However, it is unlikely that ED medication will make women less aroused, and the odds seem to be in the favor of satisfaction. But is ED medication safe for women?

It’s impossible to say for certain without thorough clinical testing and FDA approval, but there is no concrete evidence to the contrary. While the male and female anatomy is different in the sexual arena, there is very little difference elsewhere. Every body is different, but it is unlikely that ED medications would have any side effects or reactions different from those for men. To be safe, it is important to talk to your doctor before taking any of these medicines. Which should you take? The drug most tested for women that has proved affective is Levitra. A clinical trial in the UK found that the amount of women whose sexual satisfaction and performance improved was 56%–twice the number of the placebo. Furthermore, 64% of women reported feeling greater sexual confidence. From here on out, it is certain that more research will go into Levitra being used for women and many medical professionals theorize that, with a bit of tweaking, Levitra can be made even more effective to help women reach their own personal Eden.

Gynecologist Doctor For Women

A gynecologist doctor will care for a woman’s health from adolescence through the course of the patient’s lifetime. Here are some common questions about this specialist.

A gynecologist doctor is a specialist who takes care of women’s reproductive health from adolescence through old age. While some women choose to have their gynecological health tended to by their general practitioner, others prefer a specialist with a depth of knowledge about female health needs.

– What’s the difference between a gynecologist and an OB-GYN? The OB of the latter practitioner stands for obstetrician. An obstetrician is a medical provider who delivers babies. An OB-GYN is a physician who takes care of female reproductive wellness as well as delivering babies. This can be quite convenient for patients in their childbearing years that plan to procreate. For others who are not planning to have children, it may be preferable for them to select a standard gynecologist so that the doc won’t be called away on a regular basis to deliver infants.

– What ages should teen girls begin to visit their GYN? Beginning at age eighteen, females should begin to have annual examinations by this specialist, sooner if they are sexually active. Every year, an annual exam should be performed that entails a pelvic exam and a pap test.

– What are pelvic exams and pap tests? A pelvic screening is a physical exam in which the physician manually checks the ovaries, uterus and vagina for wellness and abnormalities. The pap test is a diagnostic screening tool in which a sampling is taken and sent to a laboratory for evaluation. These screenings are designed to catch diseases and conditions in the early stages for more successful treatment.

– How should a patient prepare for her annual exam? The ideal time for this regular check up is mid-menstrual cycle. Two weeks before and two weeks after a period is the optimum time frame. It is best to empty one’s bladder before an examination, as well. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for twenty-four hours before the appointment. Vaginal douching should be avoided, as well, as this creates an unnatural and sometimes unhealthy bodily reaction.

– What else should a patient bring to her annual physical? It’s a wise idea to have a calendar of monthly cycles and a list of questions to ask during the appointment. Many times patients have good intentions of asking certain questions but get flustered during the appointment and forget what they were. A prepared list of queries is always a good idea.

– Regular once-a-year appointments are important: It’s very important to get in to see this specialist once a year as a preventative health care tool. Making the appointment one year in advance is one way of achieving this, especially if the office staff will send out reminder notices. If that’s too far away for planning, consistently scheduling it during summer vacations or winter breaks will be a good way to remember, as well.

– Red flags that should alert a patient to get in sooner than the annual appointment: If a woman has any unusual symptoms, such has pain, bleeding between periods, missed menstrual periods, bleeding after intercourse, or an unusual discharge, she should make an appointment with her gynecologist doctor to be seen right away.

For Better Bone Health For Women

Bone health in women is a pressing issue because women’s bones are by nature less dense than those of men. Moreover, certain nutrients may be deprived from a woman due to menstruation and physical ailments. This is why a woman must be careful as to the food she is consuming and her general state of health to make sure that her body is not deprived of vital nutrients critical to good bone health. In a woman’s advanced age, signs of poor bone health are beginning to manifest in bad posture and other conditions that suggest neglect for proper bone health.

Proper Nutrition and Good Bone Health in Women

For better bone health for women, the topmost factor to be considered should be the nutrition. This is why every woman’s diet must include doses of calcium, iron, and potassium because these three elements are critical in order for a woman to have good bone health. Without them, the bone density may be severely reduced, making them weaker in structure and rendering them prone to fracture. These nutrients are obtainable from vegetables, fruits, and fishes, although they are also available from food supplements and vitamin tablets. However, doctors recommend that one eat the natural variety in order to extract the highest amount of the needed nutrient.

Vitamin D and Exercise for Good Bone Health

Another factor which affects bone health in women is Vitamin D. Vitamin D in itself is available through fresh sunshine very morning. Moreover, it is just one of the key elements important to good bone health that is easily obtainable from nature. On the other hand, health experts agree that sunshine and regular exercise are a good combination to ensure proper bone health. Brisk walking early in the morning or a short jog around the park or biking after dinner are just some of the physical exercises doctors recommend to women in order to promote good bone health.  On the other hand, most bone health-related problems in women occur after their menopausal period. In these times, it is even more critical that a woman exercise to keep her bones in good health. Suggested exercises include lifting small weights such as dumbbells as well as jumping exercises.

Another factor that can affect bone health is posture. It is noticed that most females, especially in their young age, do not pay attention to proper posture, blithely dismissing it, not knowing the consequences later could be severe. For example, it is common for females to sit with their back arched far forward. This is a flawed position that affects bone development.

Avoiding Complications Arising from Poor Bone Health

In order to have healthy bones, the different factors enumerated above should be given ample attention or else the consequences could be drastic. This is because damage to the bones may bring serious complications. For example, a simple fracture in the bone due to weak structure may bring internal infections and other ailments that could compound the situation further.

Easy Steps to Staying Healthy for Women

One cannot fully understand what it would entail to become healthy if they would not know what health means in the first place. Health as defined by the World Health Organization is the state of complete physical, mental and emotional well being and not just merely the absence of disease.

It doesn’t mean that if you’re thin, you are healthy. It doesn’t mean that if you may look physically well, you’re healthy. There are a lot of factors that have to be considered in order for a woman to be physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy.

These are the following tips one must look into to stay physically, mentally and emotionally healthy.

Staying Physically Healthy

Eat a well balanced diet. Do not skip meals

Do not skip the most important meal of the day – breakfast. Remember, your stomach has been empty for about 11 to 12 hours. You have to eat breakfast before you start your day.

It doesn’t mean that you have to undergo starving yourself to death just so you can achieve the weight you desire (the thin look). A healthy height and weight proportion. Should be maintained. Meaning your weight has to coincide with your height.

Drink plenty of water every day. Every single day we lose fluid. We call it sensible and insensible loss. As we breathe in and out, we lose fluid, we sweat, we eliminate. Hence, we need to replenish our body on a regular basis. We don’t want our cells to shrink and die.

Exercise. Do regular exercise, be it isometric or aerobic. Rather than using the remote, get up and walk towards the television to turn it off. Take a brief short walk early in the afternoon, or take your dog for a walk. Exercise increases circulation and improves health.

Perform regular breast self-examinations. It is best to perform this after your menstrual period.

Avoid alcoholic drinks, smoking, and other vices that would harm your body.

Staying Mentally Healthy

Practice your memory. Try this from time to time. Memorize a few words and make sure you still remember those at the end of the day.

Meditate and from time to time release all the bad energy and focus on one’s self.

Stay positive.

Staying Emotionally Healthy

If you are at the brink of emotionally breaking down, cry. Don’t keep your emotions inside It is healthy to cry.

Have a support system where you can share what you are feeling. Don’t let it all get bottled up inside you.

Smile rather than frown. You age less if you smile. You age more if you keep frowning and getting mad.

Remember

Before anything else, the major point women should watch out for is the four Fs (female, fertile, forty, fair). Hence, if you fall into this category then you should be meticulous and be cautious with your health. As health is defined, it is the overall state wherein you are healthy. Physically, mentally and emotionally, you have to be healthy.

Thinning Hair in Women

Baldness is a common problem encountered by the male gender, but if a female is suffering from it, society is not so open to it and ideas on female baldness are not so kind to the female gender. The result is that women who suffer from the problem often get depressed, unable to keep with the problem hounding her. In some instances, society gets so judgmental that it torments the woman’s thinking, forcing her even deeper into depression.

How Hair Thinning in Women Comes About

The condition of thinning hair is known in the medical world as alopecia, although the condition is more prevalent in men than in women. Thinning of the hair usually starts around the crown area and slowly spread to surrounding areas, resulting to a gradual thinning as time passes by. In some instances, however, thinning is achieved evenly and will become noticeable only once the entire head area has visibly thinned in hair density.

Heredity and Hair Thinning in Women

Thinning hair in women is difficult to cope up with mainly because the case is rare. However, one has to understand that the male gender doesn’t have a monopoly on thinning hair. For women, the most common cause of thinning hair is hereditary. That is why if one has a relative who has experienced the situation, it is half-expected that the same thing will happen to all other female members of the family. For men, the situation is less a problem because of the prevalence of short hair, or even of a completely shaven style, which may eliminate the problem. Moreover, men who are experiencing hair thinning can associate with famous bald men such as Bruce Willis. For women, however, no such succor is available to them.

For women who have undergone chemotherapy, the problem is not only hair loss itself as it may also involve a loss of prestige and the waning of self-confidence. Self-concept and body image for a woman grossly suffers after chemotherapy and the problem is made more difficult because self-image may not return fully even if hair is restored somewhat. In such case, a woman may have difficulty expressing her feelings and may cause her to avoid family and friends, causing her to become even more reclusive.

Common Reasons for Hair Thinning in Women

For a woman, the following may be the reasons for her thinning hair:

* Poor nutrition. Poor nutrition here means when the food intake and the nutrients a woman gets is way below the needs of a woman, one of the possible results may be hair thinning. Because women have their monthly menstruation, which may deprive them of iron. Poor iron intake or lack of it can further compound the possibility of thinning hair.

* Use of drugs. The use of drugs as well as contraceptives, steroids, and any drug to help lower blood pressure can also cause hair thinning in the long run.

* Stress. Stress is a known factor that affects the mood of women, but stress is especially intense when someone close has died. In such a condition, emotional support is needed.

Radium Girls: Women spirit

The case described in this article is historical in many ways especially in the fields of health physics and the labor rights movement. The whole case revolves around the United States Radium Corporation. Founded in 1914 in Newark, New Jersey, this company produced uranium from carnotite ore and later moved into the business of producing radioluminescent paint Undark. They began to hire workers around 1917, mostly women, whose job was to paint watches with special glow-in-the-dark paint, where radium was one of the ingredients. The women were told that the paint was harmless and even encouraged to sharpen the brushes they used during work to with their tongues and fingers. Unaware of the danger some of the girls even painted their fingernails, faces and teeth, to surprise their boyfriends in the dark or just for fun. Naturally the girls received huge doses of radiation, which led to bone diseases and ultimately deaths. It is important to note that the owners and their scientists were familiar with the effects of radium and avoided the dangerous chemical with lead screens, masks and tongs. After a certain period of time many of the women began to suffer from fractures and necrosis of the jaw (later named the Radium Jaw condition). The United States Radium Corporation and some other watch-dial companies denied the fact that the compound used to paint watches was radioactive and rejected the claims, stating that the medical issues appeared from other medical conditions. Doctors, dentists, and researchers who were working on the radium cases received requests from the companies not to release their data.

In 1925 the chief medical examiner of Essex County, New Jersey published a report that stated that the cause of bone disease and aplastic anemia, and deaths of the workers was radium. Five of the survived woman sued their employer in a historical case that later established the right of individual workers who contract occupational diseases to sue their employers for this. The first worker who decided to sue was Grace Fryer, but it took her two years to find a lawyer that would take on U.S. Radium. Eventually she found one and was joined by four more ill workers. The whole case received a lot of media attention and so it became impossible to deny the true facts. This triggered big changes in the governing labor safety standards. The United States Radium was closed in 1927, mostly because of this legal case. The case itself was settled out of court in 1928. The company was considered to take too much time for settling the case intentionally, because most of the workers were too ill to survive and receive compensation. The settlement for each of the girls was $10,000 and a $600 per year annuity while they lived, plus coverage of all the medical and legal expenses.

The Radium Girls became a well known case and was referenced in many books and movies. The contamination was so serious that even today the graves of the workers can be detected with Geiger counter.

Helpful Stress Relievers for Women

Stress is the reaction of our body to something that upsets the normal balance in our life. Women are easily stressed and all women have stress. A corporate woman can be stressed with her work. A busy mom is stressed sometimes with her kids and all the work that she has to do at home. When you feel stressed, you should find ways to reduce the tension and find time to relax for yourself. Reducing stress reduces your risk for all chronic diseases including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and certain types of cancer. Untreated stress also leads to depression, anxiety, headaches, and many other health-related complaints. Reducing stress is important in improving your overall health.

Ways to Reduce Stress

There are many simple and inexpensive ways in which a woman can reduce stress on her own. Here are some effective ways in which you can reduce stress:

* Live a healthy life. Cut off or reduce your alcohol intake and quit smoking as they can hide the symptoms of depression and they rarely resolve the problem.  They only can make the situation worse. Avoid taking in too much caffeine. Eat a balanced diet which includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. Maintaining a fit body gives you the energy you need to fight off stress.

* Exercise and go outdoors whenever possible. Commit yourself to having a walk each day as a form of exercise. If you want, you can join a health club. Spending time with nature can help you unwind and enhance your outlook towards life. This could help you improve your attitude and soon the stress that you feel may be trivial.

* Try aromatherapy. This process can help you alleviate your stress. Try putting five or six drops of lavender oil in a warm bath or try using healing flavors of tea like chamomile, passionflower, valerian and ginseng.

* Give yourself time to enjoy life and have fun. Be creative and learn to express yourself and give yourself the freedom that you want. Just allow yourself to relax and enjoy the moment.

* Be assertive and not aggressive. Learn when to say “no.” We always feel that we must respond in a positive way when someone asks us a favor but there are some instances when the favor becomes a burden to us. When that time comes, think it over and say no.

* When you are in an unpleasant situation, remember to take a deep breath and count to 10 before you say and do anything else. The pause acts as a tranquilizer that produces a calming effect. The pause also allows you to take time to evaluate the situation and think of a solution before doing some regrettable actions on impulse.

There are many other ways in which you can beat stress. If these suggestions fail and you still have a lingering stress for two weeks or more, you should try talking to your physician.
